Ingredients

Serves : 5
  • Capsicum - 2 medium, chopped


  • Chopped Onion - ½ cup


  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig


  • Turmeric powder - ¼ Teaspoon


  • Mustard seeds - ½ Teaspoon


  • Dried Red Chillies - 2 Nos


  • Black Pepper powder - ½ Teaspoon


  • Vegetable oil - 1 Tablespoon


  • 1 pinch Salt to taste


  • For Coconut Masala-Grated coconut - ¼ cup


  • Garlic - 1-2 medium cloves


  • Green chillies - 1 small, chopped


  • Cumin Seeds - ¼ Teaspoon


  • Turmeric powder - ¼ Teaspoon


  • Salt - ½ Teaspoon

Directions

  • Coarsely grind together the ingredients mentioned in For coconut Masala without adding water
  • Set aside
  • Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds
  • Then add in the dried red chilies and fry for 30 seconds
  • Add in the chopped onion and curry leaves
  • Saute for 1 minute on medium heat
  • Now add in the chopped capsicum, turmeric powder, salt and mix well
  • Cook until the capsicum is half cooked on medium heat, then add in the prepared coconut masala and mix well
  • Cook until the thoran is dry enough to serve
  • Stir occasionally
  • Once the water content evaporates completely, add in the pepper powder and mix well
  • Remove from heat and serve hot
